Last month our White Bluff artists and scientists met at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery to check out the wall space - and the floor space and the ceiling space - that will be available for the final exhibition. it was a chance to discuss each artist’s work in progress, the drafts, sketches, concepts and concrete directions moving forward.
Although this was a closed session, for White Bluff Participants only, we thought we’d give you a sneaky look at some of the, works, words, images and ideas being bounced around our creative community.
Check out the images below, which show the artists presenting their ideas at the meeting, as well as some close up pics of what might be on offer at the final exhibition when it opens on 12 March 2021 at the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery. The session was held during the showing of the extraordinary works of Gumbaynggirr artist Brentyn Lugnan and the Robert & Janice Hunter Collection exhibition. So you will see some magnificent artworks in the background of some images.
As part of the presentation, our White Bluff Project poet, Chris Armstrong, had different members of the project team read out sections of her work in progress:
say nothing, go naked, think about few things
read the story of when
being small was being welcome
give the excavated earth your organs
turned over for all to see
your liver to the haruspex
your entrails as the fee
for the run of our human plague
