The Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery will dim the lights and come alive with the sounds of White Bluff at Night on a special night experience narrated by Ecologist Mark Graham.
White Bluff Project Artists and Scientists discuss the project and talk about their Art/Science practice.
Final artworks from The White Bluff Project will be on display at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery from 30 October 2021 through to 15 January 2022.
Galleries and museums around the world have moved online in these unprecedented times, so too has the PL❤NTS Exhibition, which features more than 150 artworks celebrating people's love of plants including our very own White Bluff artist Julie Nash, and her work: Koala vs Timber Industry, pictured here.
For more information on the PL❤NTS Exhibition, which is available to view online until the end of May, click here. All works are for sale and the exhibition will eventually be on physical, public display at Lion Gate Lodge in the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney from Sunday 19 July - Sunday 2 August 2020.
Julie’s piece is a timely artistic statement, coming at the very moment debate rages about continued logging of koala habitat in NSW and particularly near Nambucca Heads; despite last summer's devastating bushfires and the toll this has had on koala populations and koala habitat statewide.
As the Plants exhibition states - plants give us life. They make our air, our food, our clothes and our homes. Without them life would cease to exist. They are even more important to our iconic and much loved native animals. Can you imagine Australia without koalas? If you want to know what you can do to save currently threatened koala habitat then visit the Nature Conservation Council of NSW or jump on the Kalang River Forest Alliance Facebook page.
Make sure you don’t miss this fabulous exhibition at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery. White Bluff artist Terri Butterworth’s gorgeous paintings will be on display in “Artist’s Garden” a presentation of work by two of the Coffs Coast’s most established and respected painters: one abstract, one figurative.
Terri Butterworth has been painting the people and places of the Orara Valley for decades. Strongly connected to place, Terri will be exhibiting beside fellow artist Guy Gilmour. These two artists interpret the Valley’s landscapes through two distinct lenses. Terri Butterworth’s pure, abstract paintings immerse us in a layered experience of place, including her Glenreagh garden. Guy Gilmour’s sensitive and intimate observations suggest imagined narratives and prompt nostalgic memories.
On February 22, you can also join both artists for a walk through of the exhibition, providing a unique opportunity to learn about their different approaches to landscape and place. Check out that event here: Artists Garden.
Join White Bluff artist Jeremy Sheehan as he talks about one of his long running sculpture projects - Transmigration. Transmigration consists of 22 bird sculptures made from a skeleton of collected ocean plastic, overlaid with materials that slowly break down. These sculptures were sent to individual islands in the Pacific where artists and communities made similar birds that were sent back to Australia and appeared in the Bondi Sculpture by the Sea.
"A friend once introduced me as an artist, educator and environmental activist. I had never thought of myself from that perspective before, it felt a bit uncomfortable, but I kind of like it now." Join Jeremy Sheehan on Saturday 25 January at the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery as he discusses how his extraordinary bird sculptures, on show at the Gallery, returned home from a long and incredible journey.
Book your ticket to Jeremy's Transmigration talk through Eventbrite-… and find out more about Jeremy and his work at http://www.jeremysheehan.net/.

Experience the creative power of collaboration as you explore your artistic response to ecological and human migrations that are connected by air.
This one-day workshop will include a series of small group sessions where you will be guided by, and collaborate with, a contemporary poet, an indigenous visual artist and an ecologist/ornithologist. You will learn new creative skills, share ideas and understanding, gain a deeper, scientific understanding of natural migrations and explore how to transfer this knowledge into the creative process. Our local coast has been an important seasonal migratory destination for both humans and birds for Millennia - from the migratory muttonbirds to the seasonal migrations of the region’s Aboriginal inhabitants through to modern sea-changers who now flock to the coast.
'Mapping the Air' is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with talented local facilitators in an inspiring location and is part of the Coffs Coast Regional Science Hub Elemental Nature series for 2019, backed by Inspiring Australia - National Networks. 'Mapping the Air' is also the first public event for The White Bluff Project, a 3-year multi-disciplinary art and science collaboration exploring and exposing concerns about the effects of climate and urbanization on a coastal ecosystem on the Mid North Coast of NSW. In partnership with Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery, the project aims to demonstrate the value of collaboration in developing new art forms, and approaches to creative practice.
